looking inward or outward
i find the same ineffable infinity
a mist of air that wafts about us
in perfect proportion is drawn
toward earth’s molten core of iron
far beneath the oh-so-thin layer of biome
its spin powers a tremendous magnetic field
far into space above us the lethal rays
of our sun are deflected
and while they say
that it is all flying away
the entire universe
forever accelerating
this is today
this is the miraculous arrival
of trillions of perfect temporary conditions
so that our forms are possible
homey and hospitable to you and me
rocking in the sunshine full of light
singing and spinning on through the stars
love and gratitude trailing in our wake
