thank you

there are parts of life
almost too crushing to share
pain like razors across the heart

the way, for instance,
my daughter’s body is being eaten
from the inside out by cancer

but i must share with you
how a devoted mother of two
calmly accepts what is approaching

she is at peace with the universe
and appreciates every moment
of what is beautiful in her life

i must tell you this
even though and maybe because
of the pain it brings to her father

i must tell you this
from a place of deepest love
and grief all mixed as one

so that you might look up
in this instant and know
what is important and true

the undying Love within you

  2. We love you, John and can only imagine and feel your pain from our individual perspectives. I do know Seraphina is fortunate to have you as her father and Macha as her mother in heart. Our hearts, love and prayers are with you all. Please don’t hesitate to ask for anything we are able to help with. This poem is so beautiful, beyond my words.🙏🏻❤️

  5. When I read your words so beautifully written so much of what the world asks us to be enraged about pales. Love truly does take precedence over all. The calm you say emanates from Seraphina is indeed a lesson for all of us. And a gentle reminder not to take anything for granted.
